The set

Three huge rolls of paper dominate the stage onto which the actors draw at various times during the performance. On the left is Leonardo drawing the “cartoon” of the Battle of Anghiari. On the right Michelangelo is drawing the “cartoon” of the Battle of Cascina.

Above for the second act is the scaffolding for Michelangelo drawing the various “cartoons” for the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Images of the works are projected as they are discussed on stage to remind the audience of their relevance and content.
